Sub-processors

The third-party services BufferUp relies on to operate, and what each one processes on our behalf.

Infrastructure sub-processors

BufferUp engages the providers below to deliver the service. Each processes only the data described, and only for the stated purpose.

ProviderPurposeData processed
ClerkAuthentication, session management, and organization membershipName, email address, authentication credentials, session metadata, organization and role membership
VercelApplication hosting, serverless compute, and media storageAll application traffic in transit; uploaded media files; operational logs
NeonManaged Postgres databaseWorkspace records: clients, channels, posts, tags, saved replies, automation rules, and encrypted channel credentials
Google (Gemini API)AI drafting and idea generation, when a user invokes those featuresThe prompt text and client context submitted for that request

Connected social platforms

When you connect a channel, BufferUp exchanges data with that platform at your direction — publishing the content you schedule, and reading the profile, comment, and performance information the granted permissions allow. These platforms are independent controllers of the data held in their own systems, and your use of them stays governed by their terms and privacy policies.

  • Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads)
  • X
  • LinkedIn
  • TikTok
  • YouTube (Google)
  • Pinterest
  • Google Business Profile
  • Bluesky (AT Protocol)
  • Mastodon (the instance you connect)

No data is sent to a platform you have not connected. Disconnecting a channel stops the exchange and deletes the stored credentials for it.

AI processing

AI drafting and idea generation run only when a user explicitly invokes them. The prompt and the client context for that request are sent to Google’s Gemini API to produce a suggestion, which is returned to the composer as an editable draft. BufferUp does not send your content for AI processing in the background, and does not use your content to train models.
